Disco znana także pod nazwą muzyka dyskotekowa – gatunek muzyki popularnej, głównie, choć nie wyłącznie, przeznaczony do tańca w tzw. dyskotekach. Szczególnie popularny w drugiej połowie lat siedemdziesiątych XX wieku. Początkowo albumy disco produkowane były wyłącznie dla użytku DJów. Były to zazwyczaj 12 calowe winylowe krążki, najczęściej zawierające ograniczoną liczbę instrumentalnych utworów. Wkrótce też, około połowy lat siedemdziesiątych tak zmodyfikowana muzyka disco stała się dominującym stylem w muzyce pop.
